You have GOT to be kidding me...
So it definitely could've been worse. I could've been sent away for another ultrasound or NSD test. Instead I was sent away with this - an "induction slip". Translation: Your baby is quite comfy inside your belly and is never planning on coming out on her own. She will instead wait until she weighs 10 pounds so that 14 hours into labor after being induced they determine that she can't possibly make it through your birth canal and you will need a C-section."
Okay, so maybe that wasn't word for word but that's how it's all going down. Oh yes -I just know it.
So - the labor poll may not be so much fun if Miss Rylee doesn't come out on her own between now and January 26th but I'll throw it out there anyway. Anyone who thinks (thank you) that she'll come before then and wants to give your prediction, feel free. I'm sure my mother will be hoping that she comes out before then since her two week trip home to Maine to see her new granddaughter ends on the 28th - which means no time at home with Rylee. Who thinks my parents need to suck it up and extend their stay???

Oh that sucks! What did the doctor say about your parents leaving can they make it any earlier!
That totally sucks, I am crossing my fingers she comes this weekend or early next week! I hope your parents can stay a little longer!
Wouldn't it be funny if Rylee is born on the date that I was due for her Daddy (30 yrs ago)!! That would be January 13th.
Snowmobile trip canceled for next week-end, we will be here whenever Rylee decides....Can't wait
Oh man..that would suck if she waits.
I hope she comes before that. Are you dialated at all?? She will come!!
Both my kids were 4 days late...those were the longest 4 days ever!
My friend just had her daughter Saturday. It's so wierd when the baby is finally here...it doesn't feel real until they're born.
I'm excited for you.
I was thinking the same thing as Amy. I bet you anything she will come on her own, late night on the 25th!!!
Two weeks is a long time (an eternity to you, I bet) ... I think she'll decide to make her arrival before that.
That happened to my mother in law, she drove here all the way from Mexico to help and almost didn't get to see her b/c Jocelyne didn't want to come out. She actually born on her due date. My water broke and I still had to be induced b/c she didn't want to come. All I have to say is, if you get induced, don't try to be the brave and go natural. It's not worth the pain. I tried it both ways and I prefer the pain medication.
i say the 18th.
oh i'm so excited to hear about miss rylee!!! this is such a special time and i remember those "last days" oh so well. but a friend of mine shared one thing that helped and it was to think of it as the last few days that you will ever get to be completely everything baby rylee needs....right now you are her everything and she doesn't have to want for anything...you supply her oxygen, food and everything else that she requires.
not that this will help you much at this point but all 3 of my girls were late... 2 were 14 days late and the last 15 days. everybody kept telling me the same things about being too big but the biggest one was only 7.2
i pray God will bless you with much joy and peace during these special times and that you will see the face of that beautiful baby girl very soon!

ps...i surfed in to you from bek's lovely site.
Awww, come out little girl! I say January 17, 3.04 AM.
My mom had to be induced for both myself and my sister. We were both over two weeks overdue (my sister was 17 days late, I was 20 days late). We were both over ten pounds (I was 10-2, my sister was 10-6). We were also both born vaginally.
Take a deep breath and relax. It's not the end of the world. It's just one of the many avenues to getting little Rylee into your arms. She will come. Just relax.
Everything will be fine, fear not! And don't worry about what Marel said, yours will go much smoother. Just make danged sure that your epidural is good and going before they give you pitocin. Otherwise, grab some leather and eat a towel b/c you won't be happy.
Yo Shawn! Repeat after me: Yes, dear. You look positively radiant. I love you. (No, wait. That's not right, it's "I LOVE you!") And Happy Birthday!
Em - That's exactly how I feel! Atleast if I was having contractions I'd feel like it was close!
Flutter - My doctor won't induce any sooner than 41 weeks... pout. As far as my parents, I'm still working on talking them into extending their stay.
Amy - I hope she comes on her own - esp. after what Marel said!
Charlene - awww... that would've been awesome! I'm sure you've told me a dozen times that he was originally due then but I had forgotten. :)
Donna - no dilation. :( pout.
Linny - being pregnant is SOOO surreal... I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like when she's actually HERE!
Michelle - so are you puppy sitting that night? :)
Jen - I hope so!!
Drywall mom - I'm all about pain meds! :)
Bek, Sweety & Ang - I'd take EITHER of those! :)
Radical one - that is a great way to look at it! I am going to try to think about that. :)
Marel - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! RUNNING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE HOSPITAL!
Tidy - I am GASPING. 20 DAYS LATE? OVER 10 POUNDS? NATURAL BIRTH? Um, no thank you. :)
Jim - LOL. I have heard that the pitocin isn't great ... I really hope I"m atleast dilated...eeek! I just read your comment to Shawn since he never reads my site. ;) (I think he was taking notes)
I'll say January 19, my sister's birthday. :)
some old friends gave us a "prescription" to help things along... it's quite fun actually...
PIZZA, BEER, SEX
hee hee, we found it quite effective all three times :)
hehe phew 10 pound baby that be awful to birth out!
Dr's swore up and down I'd go into labor a month early. Just because I was so small...
They'd check me... and they'd tell me "Oh yea... I wouldnt go far... I'd give you another few days." week goes by... 2 weeks... no baby. Then I go back in... they say the same exact thing "any day now!" oh my gosh please stop messing with my already stressed pregnant head! lol.
They just kept saying "oh hes coming early."
Well... he was 1 days early. WOO HOO. A week early according to their due date. I had my own due date in my head... and I was only off by a day. But according to them... a week early.
Any how. They told me for sure Caleb would maybe weigh... 6 pounds. MAYBE. Just beccause I hadnt gained much weight... and I was such a petite woman.
Well... baby pops out a heafty 7 pounds 11 oz and 20 3\4 inches long... talk about shock.
I'm sure you'll do great tho! Oh ITS SO EXCITING!!!!!!!
My advice: Get an epidural
and two: See a lactician specialist right after giving birth before you breastfeed your baby (if you decide to do that). I didnt see one.. and Caleb sucked the tar out of my boobies... I wasnt able to feed him naturally at all after the 1st week. I was so bad off. I ended up pumping for a month to give him the real stuff... after that... it dried up and it was off to formula.
UGh... lol
:-)
WOW IM VENTING lol later.
Jaime~
Trust me, that was supposed to be encouraging! :) But I'll be honest, I don't know how my mom did it without drugs. I'm told I had a huge head and football shoulders. I guess the doctor reached in there and guessed (based on the circumference of my head) that I would be a 12 pound baby. But no, I was a (mere) 10 pounds. And she had no drugs. How in the world...
I think she has a higher pain tolerance than I do.
I was so mean to my mommy. But personally I'm quite shocked that they didn't induce her earlier than 20 days overdue. (that was also almost 23 years ago.)
Let me tell you this, for comfort, though: I used to work in an L&D unit in a hospital, where probably at least half of our deliveries were inductions. And out of those inductions, I would honestly guess that less than 5% became cesarians. And I can also tell you that nowadays, they will NOT wait until you are 20 days overdue to induce you. Probably not even a week overdue and they would induce.
And even IF they had to do a cesarian - Hon, that is such standard procedure nowadays. Babies come out of cesarians so healthy and so vibrant. You'll be fine either way.
Take Marel's advice and get lots of sleep. You'll need to be well-rested and strong for the pushing. Also, if you are well-rested, you will tend to have a shorter labor, for which I think you will be grateful.
Take Drea's advice and go for the epidural. In my experience, women who got the epidural could remember less of the pain involved in their delivery and more of the joy of bringing the child into this world. Also, on the slim chance that you have to get a section, if you have an epidural, they probably won't have to give you general anesthesia.
Also, if you wish to breast-feed, take Drea's advice and talk to a lactation specialist. Usually they have them at the hospitals. They're smart people and will help you a lot.
You're going to be just fine. Try to relax and focus on the sweet little baby that you are going to have in your arms soon.
that's standard operating procedure in our town. She's coming before then and it will all be a moot point.
Jaime and Shawn,
Best of luck with your labor. My sister told me (that my mom told me) you were in the hospital and 4 cm. Not sure how long ago that was but very soon Miss Rylee will be in your arms. I can't wait to see pictures!
Thinking about you!
Tricia
Congratulations!!! I don't know if the blessed event has occurred yet, but I was talking to my mom, and she and my aunt (Charlene) were getting ready to head to Lewiston, said you had made a trip to the hospital, went home, and returned to find that you were dialated to a 4! You go Girl! I just had my second daughter 4 months ago, and there is nothing like parenthood... I wish both you and shawn the best.... You both will make GREAT parents! I predict January 16th, in the wee hours of the morning.. duh! Glad your parents can be here and have a little time with the little one I've never had a chance to meet you before but you know my mom Brenda.... so I've been hearing about you since before you and Shawn were married... Good luck and have fun, oh, and take LOTS of pictures. I keep a disposable camera in almost every room of my house so I can catch those crazy shots, when I don't have time to run for the digital, then I have them make a disk so I can email the crazy pics to everyone!!!
Congratulations mommy & daddy!!!
Congratulations Jaime & Shawn and Welcome Baby Rylee. I bet she's a doll. My sister predicted she'd arrive in the wee hours of the morning. Of course that was only after knowing you were in labor. haha
I hope you recover quickly and enjoy that new little girl. Can't wait to meet her this summer!
Tricia
